Pm controller, but some of the details are different. First, the edit action accepts two arguments, the address's ID and the person's ID. This creates a URL like /address/edit/0/5. This is so the edit action can also create new addresses. When we edit an address, we specify only the address ID. When we want to create an address, we leave the address ID undefined (or zero) and specify the person's ID instead. This is a little unwieldy, so we abstract these details out to the add action. The add action accepts the person's ID and then forwards the appropriate data to the edit action.

Although the database actually stores the relation from an address to its person via an ID number, this is a detail that DBIC handles for us. We only have to think about what we mean, not how the database represents relations. If it turns out the person ID that was passed doesn't exist in the database, we return the user to the list of people and addresses with an error message at the top. If we're instead editing an existing address, we just look up the address by the address ID number that was passed into the action.

Here's a word from our Controller: [% word | html %].

This is just a regular XHTML file, with some special control sequences for the Template Toolkit. [% word%] tells TT to get a variable called "word" and print it at that point in the template. The | html part after "word" in the example above is a TT filter that means to escape any HTML in word so that < is rendered as an actual < sign and not an HTML tag. This prevents a type of security hole called "XSS" (crosssite scripting).
