Two of the objective functions are similar to the ones in the previous article and the third aims at minimizing the number of used LSPs (Label Switched Paths). The resolution approach uses an evolutionary algorithm. Other works focusing on the same type of routing model and also using evolutionary algorithms are in [Erbas and Mathar, 2002] and [Erbas and Erbas, 2003].

Note that the relevant criteria to many problems in this area are not only multifaceted but commonly of an heterogeneous nature, for example economic and technical criteria. These issues make that in many situations the models for decision support in these areas become more realistic if different aspects are explicitly considered by building a consistent set of criteria rather than aggregating them a priori in a single function as was done typically in earlier OR models in this field. Multicriteria models enable the different concerns of various natures which are at stake, in a given decision problem, to be explicitly addressed, so that the decision maker may grasp the conflicting nature of the criteria and the satisfactory compromise solutions may be identified.
